Bethnal Green packs an enormous variety of housing into a small slice of E2, and a move here can swing from a Georgian terrace to a 1930s council block within a couple of streets. The handsome early-Victorian and Georgian houses around Victoria Park and Approach Road are tall and narrow with original staircases, while the mansion blocks and former LCC estates off Roman Road and Cambridge Heath Road bring their own quirks — communal staircases, tight internal lobbies and, in the older blocks, no lift. Warehouse conversions near the railway add loft-style flats with big open spaces but awkward single access points. Victoria Park on the doorstep keeps families in the area for years, so plenty of E2 moves are settled, whole-house jobs. Quick access to the A12 keeps longer moves efficient.
