Term dates are not moving dates. What empties a room is the end of a licence or a tenancy, and universities publish those — so we read them rather than guessing, and we say where each fact came from.
UAL is not one campus and its halls are not one place, which is precisely why moving out of them deserves a page of its own. The university's accommodation pages list fourteen buildings scattered right across the city: Hawthorne House in Stratford and Wick Park on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park; Emily Bowes Court beside Tottenham Hale; Sketch House at Finsbury Park; The Costume Store out at North Acton; Signal House in Wimbledon; and a cluster around Camberwell and Elephant and Castle in the south. A single cohort can be spread across half of them. So "when do UAL halls empty" has no single answer, and anyone who gives you one has not read the list.
What the university does publish, building by building, is the length of the tenancy — and it varies more than anybody expects. Hawthorne House is offered at forty-two weeks for a partially funded room and forty-five for a standard one. Emily Bowes Court is forty-two. Sketch House is fifty. All three are for 2026/27, and all three belong to the same university. If you are splitting a van with a friend on the assumption that your contracts finish together, check that before you book, because more often than not they do not.
Three of those halls sit in districts we already cover in detail, which is the practical reason this page starts where it does. Hawthorne House is Stratford — a fifteen-minute walk from London College of Fashion at the Olympic Park on the university's own description — and Stratford means new-build blocks where the building rather than the street sets the timetable. Emily Bowes Court is a five-minute walk from Tottenham Hale on the Victoria line, which is N17 ground and a different afternoon again. Sketch House is five minutes from Finsbury Park station, where the residential streets are permit-controlled and narrow enough that where a vehicle stands has to be worked out beforehand.
None of which tells you what your own building will allow. We are not going to pretend otherwise: UAL's halls are run building by building, each with its own arrangements, and a confident sentence on a web page about a doorway nobody here has seen is worth nothing to you at eight on a June morning. Ask your hall's team, tell us what they say, and the run gets planned around the real answer.
What we can promise is the part that belongs to us. A room's worth of things fits the small van, and two hours usually covers it. We take only what is yours out of a shared flat and leave the rest untouched. And the figure comes from your two actual addresses and the route between them, so Acton to Camberwell and Stratford to Bow come out as the different jobs they genuinely are.

It is the usual job rather than the small one. A room’s worth of belongings out of a UAL flat fills the small van and little more, we take only what is yours, and the flatmates staying on barely notice. There is no minimum number of boxes and no full-removal price attached to a part load.
